The Outdoor Advertising Association of Texas (OAAT) & FBI
Joined Forces to Capture a Suspected Killer
May 3, 2023 — OAAT member companies – Clear Channel Outdoor, Lamar Advertising and OUTFRONT Media – recently joined forces with the FBI in the hunt and capture of suspected killer, Francisco Oropesa. A digital billboard message featuring an $80,000 reward was broadcast on digital billboards throughout Texas, including in Conroe near where the suspect was apprehended.
The message was broadcast in more than 70 Texas cities and throughout Louisiana on more than 100 digital displays creating millions of market impressions.
Digital billboards offer the flexibility of valuable instant communications regarding important law enforcement issues. “We are proud to be able to assist the FBI in this effort and so pleased our message led to the capture of this suspect,” Lee Vela, president, OAAT, said.
This effort is just one of the many projects OAAT members conduct to assist the communities in which they operate. Other projects include assisting in the fight against human trafficking, providing emergency messages, help for victims of domestic violence and much more.
OAAT member companies operate approximately 85 percent of the billboard structures in Texas. These companies are active in providing essential advertising for Texas businesses and donating space to hundreds of non-profit organizations.
