National Missing Children’s Day in Texas
The Texas Department of Public Safety Missing Persons Clearinghouse list more than 40,000 missing children in Texas. Each year Clear Channel Outdoor provides a month-long public service campaign dedicated to finding come of these children as part of National Missing Children’s Day activities. This program is in partnership with the Texas Center for the Missing and conducted in four major Texas markets: Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and El Paso. In 1983, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed May 25th National Missing Children’s Day. Press events to launch the local campaign which features a different missing child in each market is held. National Missing Children’s Day is a reminder to all parents and guardians of the need for high-quality photographs of their children for use in case of an emergency, and for the need for everyone to pay close attention to posters and photographs of missing children.
